The Uganda Cubs head coach Brian Ssenyondo has expressed confidence ahead of the AFCON U17 Cecafa qualifiers final against Tanzania, set for Friday at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, at 3:30 PM.
Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Ssenyondo emphasized the team's determination to win the championship. “We already achieved our first target of AFCON qualification. The only pressure we have is winning the trophy. The game won’t be very easy because we are playing our archrivals, but we are ready to attack the game and get the win,” he stated.
Uganda booked their spot in the final after an impressive 4-1 victory over Somalia in the semifinals while Tanzania cruised past South Sudan with a convincing 4-0 win. The two sides have already secured their tickets to next year’s AFCON U17 tournament in Morocco.
However, the rivalry between Uganda and Tanzania adds extra intensity to this final showdown. The two teams met earlier in the group stages with the match ending in a 1-1 draw.
Fans can expect an electrifying clash as both teams battle for regional supremacy and the coveted Cecafa trophy.
