Uganda Cranes forward Calvin Hope Kabuye has completed a move to Swedish Allsvenskan side Mjällby AIF, signing a contract that will keep him at the club until 2029.

Kabuye, 21, joins Mjällby from Superettan outfit Sandvikens IF where he had an impressive 2024 campaign. In 29 appearances he recorded 7 goals and 9 assists, showcasing his ability as both a goal scorer and playmaker in Sweden's second tier.

The forward's journey in Swedish football has seen him feature for clubs like AIK, Vasalund IF and Östersunds FK, experiences that have sharpened his skills and understanding of the Swedish game. His rise through the ranks has now earned him a spot in the Allsvenskan, Sweden’s top-tier football league.

At Mjällby AIF, Kabuye will bolster an attacking unit for a side that finished 5th in the 16-team league last season. His signing is seen as a strategic move to enhance the team’s firepower as they seek to build on their strong finish and aim for greater success in the upcoming season.

Kabuye’s switch to Mjällby sees him join a growing list of Uganda Cranes players plying their trade in Sweden’s Allsvenskan. He follows in the footsteps of fellow Cranes forward John Paul Dembe who plays for BK Häcken.

On the international front, Kabuye was part Uganda Cranes’ successful 2025 AFCON qualification campaign. He made his senior debut in the final qualifier against Congo Brazzaville, a match Uganda won 1-0 courtesy of Travis Mutyaba's lone goal.

With his versatility, creativity and goal-scoring touch, Kabuye is expected to play a key role in Mjällby’s attacking plans as they prepare for the new season. His progress will undoubtedly be followed closely, both in Sweden and back home in Uganda.
