NEC denied late as BUL rescue a point
StarTimes Uganda Premier League leaders NEC missed a golden chance to widen their gap at the top after being held to a dramatic 1-1 draw by BUL FC at Najjembe on Wednesday.
NEC took the lead in the 37th minute when Cromwell Rwothomio headed in Gaddafi Wahab’s well-delivered free kick.
The visitors looked set to claim maximum points until BUL's Nicholas Mwere snatched a dramatic equalizer in the 90th minute, ensuring a share of the spoils.
Victory would have seen NEC extend their lead at the summit to four points but they now remain just two points clear with 27 points. Vipers SC, currently on 25 points have a chance to overtake NEC if they secure victory against Mbale Heroes on Friday.
The result saw BUL pick up consecutive back to back draws following last week’s 1-1 draw away to Vipers.
Their seventh draw of the season takes them to 16 points in 10th position after 13 matches.
