Uganda Premier League continued after the recent international break with five games featuring 12 goals and five victories.

KCCA FC 5-0 Soltilo Bright Stars FC

KCCA FC put on a dominant display at the MTN Omondi Stadium, hammering Soltilo Bright Stars 5-0 in a game where midfield maestro Bright Anukani orchestrated a ruthless first-half demolition.

Anukani, who was named Man of the Match, struck twice, netting KCCA’s first and fourth goals. Usama Arafat, Saidi Mayanja and Brazilian forward Joao Gabriel also found the back of the net as the Lugogo side tore their opponents apart.

The emphatic win propelled KCCA to fourth place in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, reclaiming their spot after Kitara’s victory on Thursday. They now have 34 points, though still trail table-toppers Vipers SC by 15, with the latter holding a game in hand.

For Bright Stars, the heavy defeat deepens their relegation worries, as they remain second from bottom with only 12 points and nine matches left to fight for survival.

KCCA wasted little time asserting their dominance. In the 18th minute, Yian Gatbel set up Anukani, who finished with precision to open the scoring. Just past the half-hour mark, Shafik Kwikiriza turned provider for Arafat to double the advantage.

Mayanja added a third in the 35th minute, finishing off a well-worked move from Arafat’s assist. Six minutes before halftime, Anukani completed his brace with a stunning free-kick, capping a relentless opening 45 minutes for Abdallah Mubiru’s side.

Bright Stars regrouped and showed some defensive resilience in the second half, managing to contain KCCA for long stretches. However, their efforts were undone in stoppage time when substitute Etienne Katenga’s brilliant play set up Joao Gabriel to seal the rout.

Lugazi FC 0-1 Maroons FC

Elsewhere in the league, Maroons FC continued their steady climb up the table with a narrow 1-0 victory away to Lugazi. Abel Eturude’s 19th-minute goal secured all three points for the Luzira side, earning him the Man of the Match award.

The win lifted Maroons to sixth place with 30 points, while Lugazi, now with seven defeats this season, sit just three spots above the relegation zone on 26 points.

Wakiso Giants FC 0-1 UPDF FC

At Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Samuel Ssekamate’s first-half strike, assisted by Frank Mugisha earned UPDF a crucial 1-0 win over Wakiso Giants.

UPDF’s victory pushed them up to 10th place with 27 points, while Wakiso Giants remain in deep trouble, third from bottom with only 14 points.

Thursday’s Action

NEC FC 3-1 Express FC

NEC FC continued their title chase with a commanding 3-1 win over Express FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium.

Muzamiru Mutyaba capitalized on a defensive lapse to open the scoring in the fourth minute, before Paul Mucureezi volleyed home a Marvin Kavuma cross in the 24th minute for a 2-0 lead.

NEC extended their advantage in the second half when Allan Mugalu finished off a Mucureezi delivery to make it 3-0. Express managed a late consolation through Conrad Ssenjogera in the 80th minute, but NEC comfortably sealed their 14th victory in 21 matches.

The win keeps NEC second with 47 points, just two behind Vipers SC, who face SC Villa today. Express, on the other hand, have now suffered three straight defeats since their 4-1 win over Wakiso Giants on March 3rd and are now in eighth place with 28 points.

Police FC 0-1 Kitara FC

At Kavumba, Kitara FC edged Police FC 1-0 and now sit in fifth place with 32 points. Uganda Cranes international Jude Semugabi, fresh from national duty, headed home the winner from a Solomon Okwalinga assist.

Police FC, meanwhile, remain dangerously close to the relegation battle, sitting in 12th place with 23 points.
