KCCA FC ended their five-match winless run in dominant fashion, dismantling bottom-placed Mbale Heroes 5-0 at the MTN Omondi Stadium on Saturday.

Before kickoff, KCCA paid tribute to former Vipers SC player, Nigerian Abubakar Lawal, who passed away last month, posing behind his jersey in a show of respect. The hosts wasted no time asserting their authority, with Arafat Usama breaking the deadlock in the 21st minute after a fine assist from Saidi Mayanja.

Five minutes later, Shafik Nana Kwikiriza doubled the lead as KCCA continued to overwhelm their struggling opponents. Sadat Anaku added a third just before halftime, effectively putting the result beyond doubt.

KCCA’s dominance continued after the break, with Yian Gatbel making it 4-0 in the 75th minute following another contribution from Kwikiriza. A minute later, Sharif Ssengendo sealed the emphatic victory with the fifth goal—KCCA’s biggest win of the season.

The triumph marked KCCA’s seventh win in 19 matches, lifting them to sixth place on 28 points, although they remain 18 points adrift of league leaders Vipers SC. For Mbale Heroes, the defeat compounds their misery as they remain rooted at the bottom with 10 points, now trailing 13th-placed Police FC by 10 points, making their survival hopes increasingly bleak.

Meanwhile, in the day’s other fixture, Mbarara City and Soltilo Bright Stars battled to a goalless draw at Kakyeka Stadium. Bright Stars remain second from bottom with 12 points, still nine points from safety.
