Mbale Heroes Football Club has appointed Mubarak Wamboya Abu as interim head coach following the suspension of Asaph Mwebaze. The club announced the decision after suspending Mwebaze for 28 days due to alleged indiscipline.
Wamboya, who previously managed Gaddafi FC and Onduparaka FC will oversee the team for the final two fixtures of the first round of the Uganda Premier League.
His tenure started with a 1-0 defeat at Maroons FC on Thursday at Luzira Prison Ground and will have a home encounter with NEC FC on January 9th.
"Mbale Heroes is pleased to announce the appointment of Mubarak Wamboya Abu as the interim head coach for the remaining two games of the season after the suspension of our head coach Asaph Mwebaze," the club stated.
This marks Wamboya’s entry as the third coach to lead the newly promoted side this season, following Richard Malinga and Mwebaze. The club currently sits in the relegation zone with just nine points.
Mwebaze's future at Mbale Heroes remains uncertain amid ongoing tensions with club administrators and some sections of the fanbase.
