KCCA FC head coach Abdallah Mubiru has expressed frustration over what he perceives as unfair treatment towards his team following their 2-0 defeat to Uganda Premier League leaders Vipers SC on Sunday.

First-half goals from Yunus Sentamu and Allan Okello secured victory for Vipers at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo. However, the match was marred by controversy, with KCCA denied a penalty after Vipers goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza collided with Etienne Katenga while the game was still goalless.

The referee waved play on, a decision Mubiru believes was crucial in determining the outcome. "We had a moment when we were denied a penalty, a clear penalty. That kind of incident demoralized us," Mubiru stated.

"We are trying our level best to convince players to remain positive, but there is something inculcating into their mindset that we are being treated unfairly, and it disturbs them so they end up losing concentration."

KCCA’s struggles have compounded in recent weeks, having lost their second-round opener against NEC FC. Their woes were further deepened when their 2-0 away victory over Mbarara City in the final match of the first round was overturned.

Mbarara City successfully petitioned that KCCA had fielded an ineligible player, Gavin Kizito. KCCA appealed, arguing they had sought clearance from the Uganda Premier League regarding Kizito’s eligibility before the match, but the FUFA Appeals Committee dismissed their case.

Seeking further recourse, the club confirmed on Saturday, just a day before facing Vipers, that they had taken the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in pursuit of justice.
