After an intense round of Stanbic Uganda Cup fixtures, attention shifts back to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League as matchday 18 kicks off with four crucial encounters on Saturday.

The spotlight will be on MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, where second-placed NEC FC hosts Lugazi FC under floodlights. The Bugolobi-based side, last season's Uganda Cup finalists, now set their sights solely on league glory.

However, head coach Hussein Mbalangu will demand an immediate response from his team after their shock Uganda Cup exit to Blacks Power. NEC will aim to claim the top spot—at least temporarily—if they secure maximum points, as they currently sit just three points behind leaders Vipers SC, who play on Sunday.

The reverse fixture saw Lugazi FC claim a narrow 1-0 victory, and they will be keen to complete a season double over their hosts. Lugazi has shown signs of resurgence in the second round, winning two of their last three league outings.

They currently sit 11th with 20 points, seven above the relegation zone, and will be eager to maintain their upward trajectory. Kitara and URA Battle for Key Positions At The Royal Park, Butema, Kitara FC welcomes URA FC in a highly anticipated showdown.

Wasswa Bbosa will be looking for revenge against the Tax Collectors after suffering his first defeat as Kitara boss in the reverse fixture. URA currently sits 3rd with 27 points, but a loss would see them drop below 5th-placed Kitara, who are riding an impressive eight-match unbeaten streak in the league.

Mbale Heroes and Bright Stars Fight for Survival In Mbale, relegation-threatened Mbale Heroes FC will be desperate for a win against Police FC, while another struggling side, Soltilo Bright Stars, hosts high-flying BUL FC at Kavumba.
