The Uganda Premier League matchday nineteen continues today, with two encounters on the card. URA FC hosts UPDF FC, while NEC FC visits struggling Wakiso Giants.
In Wakiso, NEC FC will be gunning for maximum points to close the gap on leaders Vipers to three points. Wakiso Giants, however, are desperate for a victory to revive their survival hopes, trailing safety by seven points.
A win would narrow the gap to four points. The hosts are smarting from a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Express FC in their previous outing. In the reverse fixture, NEC FC secured a 2-0 victory over Wakiso Giants, and today's encounter will either be a revenge mission for the hosts or an opportunity for NEC FC to complete a league double.
Wakiso Giants will be without the injured trio of Alex Komakech, Isaac Mtengwa, and Herbert Asiimwe, while NEC FC has a full squad at their disposal. In the late kickoff, scheduled for 7 pm at Nakivubo, URA FC will seek their fourth consecutive home victory as they host unpredictable UPDF FC.
URA FC is eager to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Kitara in their previous game. UPDF FC, meanwhile, is buoyed by their 2-0 triumph over reigning champions in their previous outing and will be hunting for a vital win to keep them at arm's length from the relegation zone.
The two sides played out a goalless draw in the first leg this season. URA FC sits seventh with 27 points, while UPDF FC occupies ninth spot with 24 points.
URA FC will be without Denis Kisiriko, James Begesa, and Emmanuel Okech, while UPDF FC will miss Edward Kawooya, Samuel Ssekamatte, Emmanuel Ochen, Shakib Mayanja, and Nsubuga Abasi Luuty.
