Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa have terminated the contracts of winger Peter Onzima and defender Edward Masembe as part of their midseason adjustments.

Onzima, who joined SC Villa at the start of the 2023/24 season from Busoga United still had a year and a half remaining on his contract. Despite contributing to Villa’s record-extending league title win last season, the club has decided to release him.

Masembe, whose contract was set to expire at the end of the current season has also had his tenure at the club cut short.

Both players played vital roles in helping SC Villa clinch the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League title, ending a 20-year drought under Serbian head coach Dusan Stojanovic.

Their departure follows that of Hakim Kiwanuka, who left for Rwanda's APR FC earlier in this transfer window.

SC Villa, currently in eighth place with 20 points at the halfway mark of the 2024/25 season will begin their second-round campaign with an away fixture against struggling Wakiso Giants FC on February 11, 2025.
