StarTimes Uganda Premier League – Matchday 22

Thursday, 3 April, 2025 Results:

Soltilo Bright Stars FC 3-1 Police FC

Vipers SC 1-0 Lugazi FC

Vipers SC bounced back to winning ways as Karim Watambala marked his return from suspension with a stunning strike that secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Lugazi at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

After falling to SC Villa in their previous outing, the Venoms were determined to respond and Watambala delivered the decisive moment in the 66th minute. The midfielder unleashed a thunderous long-range effort that sailed past Lugazi goalkeeper Juma Mutebi, sealing Vipers’ 16th win of the season.

The result keeps the defending champions firmly at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table with 52 points, five ahead of NEC, who could reduce the gap to two with a victory against UPDF on Friday. Lugazi remain 11th with 26 points.

Bright Stars light up Kavumba

Earlier in the day, Soltilo Bright Stars put their recent 5-0 thrashing by KCCA FC behind them, bouncing back in style with a 3-1 victory over Police FC at Kavumba Recreation Ground.

Noordin Bunjo set the tone early, pouncing on a defensive mishap in the seventh minute to fire home the opener. Just two minutes later, Nelson Senkatuka doubled the lead with a well-placed header off Innocent Kitimbo’s cross.

Senkatuka then grabbed his second from the penalty spot in the 31st minute after being brought down in the box, effectively sealing the win before halftime. Police FC managed a late consolation through Daniel Jakony in the 77th minute, but Bright Stars had already done enough to secure all three points.

Action in the Uganda Premier League continues on Friday with more key fixtures lined up.
