Vipers SC turned sorrow into strength, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mbarara City at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, in an emotional tribute to their fallen teammate, Abubakar Lawal, who passed away under unclear circumstances earlier in the week.

A somber moment of silence was observed before kickoff across all Matchday 18 fixtures, setting a reflective tone. The breakthrough came in the 66th minute when Allan Okello converted from the penalty spot after Yunus Sentamu was brought down in the box.

The win, Vipers’ 13th of the season, restores their three-point lead at the top of the table with 43 points, ahead of NEC. Mbarara City, meanwhile, find themselves just two places above the relegation zone with 20 points.

UPDF Stun Villa with Statement Win

In Bombo, UPDF exacted revenge on SC Villa with a commanding 2-0 victory, flipping the script on their humiliating 5-0 first-round loss. Daniel Kitara struck in the 13th minute before Brian Kalumba sealed the win in the 77th, guiding the army side to their second straight triumph.

UPDF now sit ninth with 24 points, level with Villa but ahead on goal difference. For Villa, inconsistency remains a concern as they failed to build on their recent 1-0 win over Express.

Maroons and KCCA Fire Blanks in Luzira

A goalless stalemate between Maroons and KCCA at Luzira Grounds extended the Kasasiro Boys’ struggles on the road.

KCCA’s last away win dates back to December 15, 2024, against Wakiso Giants. KCCA remain seventh with 25 points, while Maroons, just three places below, are on 24.
