Vipers SC strengthened their Uganda Premier League title charge on Thursday, stretching their lead at the summit to six points with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Police FC at Kavumba Ground.

Yunus Sentamu settled the contest three minutes into the second half, slotting home from Allan Okello’s assist to seal the Venoms' 14th win in 19 matches. The result lifted them to 46 points, six clear of NEC, who face Wakiso Giants on Friday in their game in hand.

Police remain precariously close to the drop zone in 13th place with 20 points, though they still hold a seven-point cushion over Wakiso Giants, who have played a game fewer. Sentamu, in fine form, took his tally to four goals this season, while Okello remains the league’s top scorer with 14.

Express FC fall

At Lugazi, Yusuf Saaka’s strike on the stroke of halftime secured a vital 1-0 win for the hosts against Express FC.

Express, riding high after their emphatic 4-1 win over Wakiso Giants, failed to build on that momentum, slipping to their seventh loss of the campaign. The result lifted Lugazi to 11th place on 23 points, while Express remain fifth with 28 points from 19 matches.

BUL end Kitara’s clean sheet streak

In the late kick-off at Nakivubo Stadium, Jerome Kirya’s lone goal proved enough for BUL FC to edge Kitara 1-0, tightening their grip on third place with 32 points.

The loss saw Kitara’s impressive 10-game clean sheet run come to an end, leaving them four points adrift of BUL in fourth after 19 matches.
