Uganda is pulling out all the stops as it prepares to host the prestigious African Nations Championship (CHAN) in 2024 and the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027.
In a significant step forward, a high-level meeting of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) was held today at Silver Springs Hotel in Bugolobi today, Tuesday, led by FUFA President and LOC Vice Chairperson Eng. Moses Hassim Magogo. The meeting brought together government officials, football federation representatives, club officials, ex-internationals and sponsors to chart the way forward for delivering these landmark tournaments.

The State Minister for Education and Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to delivering state-of-the-art infrastructure on time.
"We are dedicated to transparency and timely completion. All necessary facilities will be ready by February 1, 2025 to meet CHAN tournament requirements," Ogwang assured the committee.

Dr. Denis Mujimba, Head of Communication and Signage on the LOC announced that the government has already released critical funds for preparations, "This timely funding ensures we stay on course to deliver a tournament that meets international standards," he stated.
FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo expressed confidence in Uganda’s readiness emphasizing the LOC’s commitment to providing a world-class experience for players, officials and fans alike.
"We are determined to showcase Uganda’s capability as a host nation by exceeding expectations in every aspect of tournament organization," Magogo remarked.
The meeting marks a pivotal moment in Uganda’s journey towards hosting CHAN 2024, reflecting the nation’s ambition to leave an indelible mark on African football.
