Highly-rated Uganda Cranes midfielder Allan Oyirwoth has officially been unveiled by Major League Soccer (MLS) side New England Revolution. The 17-year-old joins on a four-year contract with an option to extend for an additional year, making him one of the youngest Ugandan players to secure a move to a top-tier American club.

Oyirwoth has already earned two senior caps for the Uganda Cranes, debuting in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Somalia and later featuring in a friendly against Kuwait. His standout performances at the youth level, including helping the Uganda Hippos win silver at the All Africa Games in Ghana last year, have cemented his reputation as a rising star.

"Tremendous upside," says New England coach

New England Revolution head coach Caleb Porter expressed excitement about the midfielder’s potential.

“Allan is a talented young midfielder with a tremendous upside, and I’m excited to help him reach his potential,” Porter said. "At only 17, Allan is gifted technically and has a frame and range athletically that profiles well for MLS. With time to develop in our training environment, I’m confident he can blossom into an impact midfielder for our first team.”

From Pakwach to the MLS

Born in Amor, Pakwach in Uganda's Northern Region, Oyirwoth’s journey began at local clubs such as MYDA FC, Amor Young Heroes, and Pakwach Super Eagles. He later rose to prominence in the Buganda Masaza Cup representing Mawokota and Gomba. His academic stint at Brooke House College and Academy in Leicester last year also contributed to his development.

Standing at 6’1” with an imposing physical presence, Oyirwoth combines technical skill with athleticism, traits that make him a promising addition to New England Revolution’s squad.

He follows in the footsteps of fellow Ugandan Edward Kizza, who played for the club in 2021 after being drafted following time spent at the University of Pittsburgh, with Oyirwoth hoping to make a similar or greater impact.
