Ugandans Abroad: Crested Cranes stars Nababi and Nanziri shine in India


Another weekend that saw a number of Ugandan foreign based clubs players take part for their respective clubs. Pan-Africa Football followed them to find out how they fared.


South Africa


Goalkeeper Ismail Watenga kept his third clean sheet of the season as his Golden Arrows defeated Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in the Betway Premiership.

Another goalkeeper, Charles Lukwago, wasn’t in the match day squad as his Venda FC side beat Black Leopards 2-0 at home in the second tier Motsepe Foundation Championship.


Tunisia


Kenneth Semakula played the entire match as his Club Africain side beat Gabes 1-0 to keep their title hopes alive.


Scotland


Right back Elvis Bwomono started before being substituted in the 90+5 minutes as his St Mirren side lost 1-0 at home to Dundee United.


Italy


Defender Elio Capradossi returned from injury but was an unused substitute as his Citadella FC side drew goalless at Cesena in the serie B.


France


Travis Mutyaba played fulltime as his Girondins Bordeaux won 2-1 at home against Granville.


Israel


Timothy Awany wasn’t in the match day squad as his Ashdod FC drew 1-1 against Hapoel Hadera.


Saudi Arabia


Halid Lwaliwa was in as his Al Ain SC side drew 1-1 at home against Al Faisaly


Czech Republic


Aziz Kayondo came on in the second half as his Slovan Liberec side defeated Isaac Muleme’s Viktoria Zizkov 5-1 in a friendly match. Muleme also came on in the second half.

Ethiopia


Nafian Alionzi was in goal as his Ethiopia Defence Force defeated Suhul Shire 2-1 to return to the summit.


Martin Kizza also featured for Fasil Kenema as they drew 1-1 against Hadiya Hossana


India


Resty Nanziri scored on her debut for East Bengal as they defeated Kick Start 2-0 in the Indian women premier league.


Amina Nababi in the same league also scored the only goal as her Sethu side beat Sreebhumi 1-0.

Rwanda


Taddeo Lwanga was an unused substitute as his APR FC lost 1-0 at Amagaju. New signings Denis Omedi and Hakim Kiwanuka are yet to feature.


Goalkeeper and skipper Nicholas Ssebwato was in goal as his Mukura Victory defeated leaders Rayon Sports 2-1.


CAF Champions League


Khalid Aucho played full time as his Yanga African side defeated Al Hilal Omdurman 1-0 to keep their qualification hopes to the quarter final alive.


Denis Onyango was an unused substitute as his Mamelodi Sundowns side came from behind to defeat As Maniema 2-1 in DRC.


In the CAF Confederation cup, forward Steven Mukwala wasn’t in the match day squad as his Simba SC side drew 1-1 at Bravos do Maquis to progress to the quarter final.

Pius Wangi scored the only goal of the match assisted by Farouk Musisi as their Kakamega Homeboyz side defeated Talanta FC 1-0 away from home. Goalkeeper Cleo Ssetuba was in goal for the visitors.
