Ugandans Abroad: Omedi scores a brace, Bbaale wins on Gor Mahia debut

Ugandan footballers abroad had a mixed weekend, with Denis Omedi stealing the spotlight in Rwanda by scoring a brace on his APR FC league debut while Charles Bbale made a winning start at Kenyan giants Gor Mahia FC.


Rwanda


Denis Omedi announced himself in style, scoring twice to guide APR FC to a 2-1 victory over Kiyovu on his league debut. Hakim Kiwanuka also featured for APR, while Taddeo Lwanga was an unused substitute.




Nicholas Ssebwato was in goal for Mukura Sport and kept a clean sheet in their 1-0 win over Muhazi United.


At Police FC, Mandela Ashiraf started, while Allan Kateregga and Eric Ssenjobe were named on the bench as they played out a goalless draw with Rutsiro.


Shafik Bakaki featured for Musanze FC in a 2-2 draw with Rayon Sport but Batte Sheif was absent due to delays in receiving his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).


Kenya


Charles Bbale made his debut for Gor Mahia FC, coming on in the 61st minute as they edged Mathare United 2-1.


George Kaddu played the full game, Boban Ziruntusa was introduced in the second half while Denis Iguma remained on the bench as Tusker played out a goalless draw with Police FC.


William Wadri featured for Bandari FC in a goalless stalemate with Sofapaka.


Sam Kintu played 48 minutes as Shabana FC suffered a 2-1 loss to Posta Rangers.


Farouk Musisi completed 90 minutes while Pius Wangi featured for 61 minutes in Kakamega Homeboyz’s goalless draw with Ulinzi Stars.


England


Toby Sibbick played the entire match as Wigan fell 2-1 to Fulham in the FA Cup.


USA


Allan Oyirwoth featured for New England Revolution in a friendly but lost 2-0 to Atlanta United FC.


Tunisia


Kenneth Semakula was not in the matchday squad as Club Africain defeated EGS Gafsa 2-1.


Sweden


John Paul Dembe came on in the second half as BK Hacken secured a 1-0 win over FOF in a friendly match.


Czech Republic


Aziz Kayondo played the full game as Slovan Liberec lost 3-2 to Plzen.


Ethiopia


Nafian Alionzi featured for Mechal in a 1-0 defeat to Geoffrey Wasswa’s Ethiopian Coffee, with Wasswa coming on in the 86th minute.


Martin Kizza played 79 minutes in Fasil Kenema’s 2-1 loss to Bahir Dar Kenema.


France


Travis Mutyaba was introduced in the 67th minute as Bordeaux defeated Dinan 3-1.


Israel


Timothy Awany played the full match as Ashdod lost 1-0 to Hapoel Beer Sheva.


Italy


Elio Capradossi played 90 minutes and picked up a yellow card in the 30th minute as Cittadela defeated Pisa 1-0.


Turkey


Joan Nabirye started on the bench as Trabzonspor drew 1-1 with Galatasaray.


Egypt


Joackim Ojera came on in the second half, while Joseph Ochaya was not in the matchday squad as Arab Contractors played to a goalless draw with El Daklyeh.


Vietnam


Geoffrey Kizito played the full match as Binh Duong secured a 2-1 win over Quang Nam.


Cyprus


Bevis Mugabi was an unused substitute as Anorthosis defeated AEL Limassol 1-0.


Scotland


Jordan Obita was introduced in the 90th minute as Hibernian edged Ayr 1-0 in the Scottish Cup.


South Africa


Jamal Salim kept a clean sheet for Richards Bay in their 2-0 win over Polokwane.


Denis Onyango was on the bench as Mamelodi Sundowns thumped Orlando Pirates 4-1.


With Omedi’s dream league debut in Rwanda and Bbale making his first appearance for Gormahia, Ugandan players abroad continue to leave their mark across various leagues.
