Young Africans (Yanga SC) head coach Sead Ramovic has sung the praise of his players after they demlolished Dodoma Jiji 4-0 in a Mainland Premier League fixture on Wednesday.
A strong first half drove Yanga to victory at the Jamhuri Stadium. Clement Mzize opened the scoring in the 19th minute when the rising star in Tanzanian football leaped to head in a corner kick service from Pacome Zouzoua.
Less than ten minutes later Yanga doubled the lead through star Stephane Aziz Ki who converted from the penalty spot after Dodoma Jiji goalkeeper Mohamed Hussein took down Prince Dube. Hussein's bad day continued in the 37th minute when poor passing in the back left the goalkeeper exposed as Mzize lobbed his finish over Hussein and into the empty net.
Dube then continued his hot form with an easy finish from close range after Hussein closed down a shot from the edge of the penalty area.
“I would like to say a big congratulations to my players, and a lot of praise to my players, what am amazing performance, from the first minute to the last because we have played three games in seven days but we still managed to take the game into our own hands in the opening minutes and tried to entertain of course our beautiful supporters,” Ramovic told Pan-Africa Football after the game.
“I think the attitude of my players, the intensity of them is amazing and these is what we want and now we want to keep on playing for 90 minutes without a break but we are in the right track, step by step we are in the right direction a lot of credit to the players for the victory again, we have an amazing group of players and amazing supporters, we can just be happy for all these.
“We have to stay close to each other because it will help us press teams and score more goals, we work as a team, we don’t want to get stretched during matches, every player has to run, sprint back, sprint forward because if they don’t do the job, other players will suffer, so these is a team work. I am happy with how the team defends together and how they attack together and that is what we need.”
Asked to describe Mzize’s performance, Ramovic said: “The team is incredible, we don’t want to give credit to one player, without other players those scoring will also struggle, so the team is incredible, we have fantastic players but we have to be a team and these is where we are now and something to be proud of.”
The win moved Yanga one point behind table leaders Simba SC. The Wekundu wa Msimbazi have 37 points while Yanga moved to 36. Azam FC are third on 33 points, the same as fourth-placed Singida Black Stars.
