American women's side Washington Spirit have confirmed the loan transfer of Ugandan defender Shadia Nankya to USL Super League side Dallas Trinity FC for the remainder of the 2025 calendar year.
As part of the agreement, Dallas Trinity FC has paid a loan fee to the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) giants, securing Nankya’s services for the season.
The 24-year-old recently signed a two-year contract with the Spirit which includes team options for 2027 and 2028.
“Shadia will gain important professional experience playing with a great Dallas club this year,” said Mark Krikorian, Spirit’s President of Soccer Operations and General Manager. “We’re excited to see her compete alongside Deborah Abiodun and Tamara Bolt and to welcome her back to the Spirit in the future.”
Nankya joins two other Spirit players, Nigerian international Deborah Abiodun and Tamara Bolt, who were loaned to Dallas Trinity FC last month. The USL Super League is in the midst of its first season in existence after beginning its inaugural season in August. Trinity are currently 4th place in the eight-team league with the top four clubs at the end of the regular season qualifying for the playoffs.
