Vipers SC missed the chance to end Matchday 12 at the summit of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table after being held to a 1-1 draw by BUL FC at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, on Saturday.
The Venoms had to rally from behind to salvage a point in their own backyard. BUL stunned the home crowd with a goal inside the opening four minutes as Pascal Ngobi calmly slotted home Dickson Mataama’s well-crafted delivery from the right flank.
Vipers restored parity in the 28th minute through Allan Okello who converted from the penalty spot after Najib Fesali fouled Gusto Mulungo in the box. The goal marked Okello's eighth strike of the season.
Despite their dominance in possession, Vipers could not find a winner and the draw leaves them second on the table with 25 points, one behind NEC FC. BUL, enduring a challenging start to the season, remain 10th with 15 points from 12 games.
Matchday 12 wraps up today as KCCA FC visits Wakiso Giants.
