Vipers SC picked up where they left off in the first round, securing a 2-0 victory over URA FC at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, to kick off the second round of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League in style on Tuesday.

Second-half goals from Allan Okello and Enock Luyima ensured the Venoms maintained their dominance at the top of the table. Substitute Kenneth Kimera won a penalty on the hour mark, which Okello confidently converted to give the hosts the lead.

Luyima then sealed the win with a stunning 25-yard strike with 15 minutes to go, continuing Vipers' impressive form. The result marks Vipers' fourth consecutive league win, keeping them in first place with 37 points from 16 matches, four ahead of NEC FC who face KCCA FC on Thursday.

URA FC, meanwhile suffered their sixth defeat of the season and remain fifth with 24 points. In the early kickoff, SC Villa missed an opportunity to close the gap on the top sides as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Wakiso Giants at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.

Aslam Semakula put the Jogoos ahead in the 23rd minute but Hudson Mbalire equalized for the hosts on the hour mark.

The result leaves Villa eighth on 21 points, 16 behind table leaders Vipers while Wakiso Giants remain in the relegation zone with just 13 points from 16 matches. The league action continues on this evening with three matches on the card.
