Vipers SC’s attacking department has suffered another setback midway through the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League campaign, with forward Annest Ankunda joining captain Milton Karisa and new signing Isaac Ogwang on the sidelines.
The 21-year-old sustained a bone fracture in his foot during the club’s Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32 clash against Mbarara City, a match that saw the Venoms secure a 2-0 victory under floodlights.
Ankunda was part of the starting lineup that night but was forced off due to injury: “Forward Annest Ankunda has been ruled out for the rest of the 2024/25 season having suffered a bone fracture in his foot in our last Uganda Cup round of 32 game against Mbarara City FC,” Vipers SC confirmed ahead of their upcoming UPL fixture against the Ankole Lions.
Before the injury, the former Ntugasaze player had made five top-flight appearances for Vipers, having debuted in September against Express FC. With Ankunda sidelined, the Kitende-based side must now rely on their available attacking options as they continue their hunt for silverware.
