Namibia senior women’s football team coach Woody Jacobs says the Brave Gladiators will not change their approach to Wednesday’s 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Eswatini in South Africa.
In a pre-match interview, Jacobs, whose charges carry a 2-0 lead going into the first-round, second-leg match at Dobsonville Stadium, said he would not tamper with his fielding and tactics.
“It is always nice to go away and get a good result. I give credit to the girls for the way they fought in the first-leg,” he said.
However, the Namibian warned his girls that “it is not over as it is a game of two halves. We are 45 minutes away and anything can happen.”
“I don’t think Eswatini is a walk in the park. Our girls were just at their best and need to be at their best to get to the next round. Our ultimate aim is to go to the second round and face Zambia,” Jacobs added.
Eswatini coach Bongani Makhukhula has since said his girls want to build on the positives from the home loss to Namibia. “We learned a valuable lesson from the first leg and will be all out for the second leg. We ask the fans to be patient and support us,” Makhukhula said.
The overall winner between Namibia and Eswatini will proceed to the second round alongside 15 other teams joining six seeded opponents such as South Africa, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Ghana and Zambia in the final qualifying phase.
