Ghana’s female senior national team now know their opponent for the next round of the 2026 Women Africa Cup qualifiers.
The Black Queens will now face North Africans, Egypt in the second round of qualifiers for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in October. The West African nation will begin their quest for successive WAFCON tournaments with a two-legged game against Egypt.
The pairing comes following Egypt’s 3-2 aggregate win over Rwanda in the first round of qualifiers earlier this week. Having booked their place in this year’s WAFCON edition for the first time since 2018, coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren’s side will be hoping to make it two consecutive appearances in the continental tournament.
The team booked a place in Morocco for the 2025 edition under Nora Hauptle following their win over Namibia in the last round of qualifiers. The second-round games are scheduled to be played between October 20 and 28, 2025.
The 2026 WAFCON will also be held in Morocco.
