Ghana’s U-17 girls will look to qualify for the finals of the WAFU ZONE B Girls Cup when they face Ivory Coast in the semifinals on Thursday.

The Black Maidens recorded a double header victory over Bénin in group A - producing a 4-1 and a 3-2 victories to book the semis alongside the Beninoise. Ivory Coast on the other hand battered Niger by 5-0 before accounting for a painful 3-2 loss to Nigeria.

That notwithstanding, they booked a semifinal slot where they will come up against Ghana, whose assistant coach, Aboagye Dacosta is rallying support for the girls at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, Ghana.

“We have an experienced coach who has been with the ladies for the past ten years now. So he has devised a plan for us and we will work on it today and all that we want to do is to win even if it is a small margin, it is a win.

“All that I’m asking for is [the fans] they should rally behind us and then pray for us,” Aboagye Dacosta said.

A win will usher Ghana into the finals against the winner between Nigeria and Bénin in the other semifinal match.
