The Nigeria U17 female national team, qualified for the finals of the WAFU ZONE B U-17 Girls Cup following a deserving victory on Thursday.
The Flamingoes nailed Benin by 2-0 in the second semifinals game at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, Accra, Ghana.
Nigeria’s journey to the finals saw them win two group B games – beating Niger by 9-0 in the opener before managing to squeeze past Ivory Coast by 3-2 in the second match. This victory paves the way for a highly anticipated final clash against sworn rivals in any sporting activity, Ghana.
Earlier in the day, Ghana's Black Maidens delivered an outstanding performance, defeating Ivory Coast 5-0 in the first semi-final to earn their spot in the final. Ghana’s qualification for the finals had them beat Benin over two games – recording a 4-1 opening win before the second game ended 3-2 in favour of the Black Maidens.
The final of the inaugural WAFU B U17 Girls Cup will take place on Sunday, December 22, promising an exciting contest for fans of the beautiful game.
