Ghana’s U-17 girls managed to squeeze three points in their second game of the WAFU ZONE B Women’s Cup against Benin on Saturday afternoon.

The Black Maidens could not display the performance they exhibited in the opening match where they pummeled the same side by 4-1 at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence on Thursday.

It was a nerve wracking encounter in the second fixture which finished 3-2 for the little girls from the Red Yellow and Green nation.

Benin shot their noses in front on the 12th minute courtesy Yenido Guandonou before Ghana pulled level at the 36th minute mark through Gertrude Amoafoh.

Ghana went ahead of Benin when Priscilla Mensah scored to make it 2-1 with just a minute to hit the first half mark.

Benin however left no stone unturned by drawing level on the 80th minute when Yenido Guandonou netted her tournament brace to peg the game at 2-2.

Gertrude Amoafoh however rose to the occasion for the second time with her double in the competition when she found Ghana’s winner on the 84th minute.

The final result means Ghana will top group A on 6 points with Benin on no pointS but both have qualified for the semifinals following Burkina Faso’s withdrawal from the competition.

Niger and Ivory Coast will however square off in the group B match at 6:00pm at the same venue.
