Head coach Joseph Nana Adarkwa of Ghana’s U-17 girls national team expressed his side’s readiness for the WAFU Zone-B U17 Women's Cup. The team has been in camp for the past one month and two weeks, fine tuning ahead of the inaugural edition to be hosted in Ghana.
The Black Maidens will kick off competition against Benin on Thursday at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, Accra, Ghana. Joe Nana Adarkwa, speaking at a pre-match press conference stressed that his side is ready for the competition.
"We have been in camp for about six weeks now, and so far, preparation is going on well. The technical team has everything in place, and we are ready for any match and to take all points at stake," he said.
Adarkwa is certainly going to face pressure as host nation but the experienced coach has cooled down any form of heat surrounding the camp.
"There will definitely be pressure on us as hosts, and a lot of people will be expecting us to win. My girls are ready to play, and that’s the most important aspect of this tournament for me," he added.
The tournament offers the Black Maidens a platform to showcase their talent after a two-year ban due to age cheating.
