Match tickets for Kenya’s home match against Gabon on Sunday in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers have sold out, the East African country’s football federation has confirmed.

Buoyed by a brave away three-all draw against The Gambia on Thursday, fans are reportedly excited to feast their eyes on the Benni McCarthy-led Harambee Stars.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has confirmed that the tickets for the 30,000-capacity Nyayo Stadium contest have sold out like hotcakes.

“All tickets for our FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Gabon are officially SOLD OUT!,” KFK wrote on the Facebook page.

“Your unwavering support means everything. Let’s paint Nyayo red, black, and green this Sunday. Come cheer the team and let your voices be heard, your energy could make all the difference.”

That the tickets have sold out is not surprising to seasoned Kenyan journalist Enrique Oyugi, attributing this to FKFs sound management and the positive vibe generated by the away draw against the Gambia.

“Football in Kenya is getting vibrant since we got a new FKF office. The current regime has goodwill from Government and the Private Sector, and this is gradually building the game. So far, none of our national teams have lost a match,” Oyugi told Pan-Africa Football.

The national teams’ recent impressive home run has also given supporters a sense of optimism for a maiden World Cup qualification, according to the journalist

“Harambee Stars tied 3-3 with Gambia on Thursday and this has already elicited excitement among local fans. Everyone now wants to watch the new Harambee Stars which has new inclusions in the squad and the boys are really playing thrilling football. We hope that the new tactician Benni McCarthy will take us to the World Cup,” Oyugi added.

Another Kenyan sports journalist Odindo Ayieko seemed to agree with Oyugi’s observation, saying: “Kenyans have been craving to watch their national team for the last four years and the result and performance against The Gambia has spurred so much interest and excitement.”

Regular tickets were pegged at 300 Kenyan shillings ($2.32 USD), 1000 Kenyan shillings ($7.72 USD) for VIP, and 10,000 shillings ($77.22 USD) for VVIP.
