Heart of Lions striker Kwadwo Obeng Junior is brimming with confidence ahead of the team's upcoming tough clash against his former club, Hearts of Oak. The 25-year-old forward will lead Lions against his former club at the Legon Sports Stadium on Friday in their Week 19 encounter from the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League at 7:00 GMT.
The sturdy forward, who has scored two goals in sixteen Premier League games this season for Heart of Lions, believes that the team has undergone the necessary training to face the 2000 CAF Champions League winners.
“Everything is fine with us here and Hearts of Oak is a big club that you need to prepare for when getting ready to face them. The match set for Friday, we are prepared to face them and our preparation has been good so far."
“The whole of the week, our training has been very intensive and we are all ready to go and face Hearts of Oak. So whatever will help us to win, we shall do it," Obeng told the club’s media outlet.
Obeng Junior won the Ghana Premier League and two Ghana FA Cups with Hearts of Oak before leaving to sign for Heart of Lions. Lions currently sit third on the league table with 32 points, same as Gold Stars in second with Asante Kotoko at the top of the table on 34 points after 18 league matches.
