Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko expressed his worries about the club’s lack of scoring ability in the Ghana Premier League this season.
Tanko, who recently joined the Yellow and Mauve, guided the club to secure a narrow 1-0 victory over Legon Cities in match day 19 of the campaign over the weekend. Nurudeen Abdulai’s strike in the 71st minute was enough for Medeama to snatch maximum points at the TnA Stadium last Sunday, cushioning them two steps above mid-table.
Medeama’s sharpness in front of goal was nothing to write home about and the hosts had to settle for a 1-0 win over their opponent in the much-anticipated clash. The former Black Stars assistant coach has promised to work to resolve the goal scoring woes at the club.
“It’s all about training. If you are not scoring as a team, you have to train to resolve it. It’s not only one striker struggling to score, almost all strikers are not scoring. So we will work on goal scoring and I’m sure they will start scoring soon,” Tanko said.
Medeama are currently 7th on the Ghana Premier League table, accumulating 29 points after 19 matches. Meanwhile, the domestic top-flight is currently on hold following violence that rocked the week 19 encounter between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko. The match, held at the Nana Koramansah Park ended 1-0 in favour of last season’s FA Cup winners Nsoatreman.
