Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has indicated that the club needs to strengthen the existing squad with new quality players when the transfer window opens in January, 2025. The Porcupine Warriors, who are the record Ghana Premier League holders, last won the domestic title in the 2021/22 season under the current coach.
Kotoko are currently just three points behind league leaders Heart of Lions following a crucial 1-0 victory over rivals Hearts of Oak in the weekend's week 13 Super Clash at the Baba Yara Stadium. The victory was Kotoko’s two straight wins after beating Aduana Stars 2-0 at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in week 12.
The two time African champions are bent on bolstering their team in order to reclaim their lost glory and that saw them re-sign former striker Kwame Opoku for two-and-a-half years.
Coach Ogum said: "We are going to see a lot of signings that is if all things go well. We've started a lot of talking and then we are sure that we will get them. So we are hoping and praying that things change and even if they do, they go in our favour so that we can augment the team.''
Asante Kotoko are 6th on the Ghana Premier League table with 21 points from 13 matches and will be away to strugglers Dreams FC in week 14 at the Tuba Astroturf on Saturday afternoon.
