Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba has revealed why the two friendly matches against Morocco were good for her side.
Harambee Starlets faced Morocco drawing the first match 2-2 before winning the second 5-0. “We have had two friendly matches in Morocco, the first friendly we managed to get a draw and the result may look like it was not good enough but we are building a team for the future because for now we don’t have any competitions lined up,” Odemba told Pan-Africa Football.
“So we have a lot of time and huge chance to build our team, we want to have a strong combination so that it can work well for future engagements like CAF and FIFA competitions.”
On the performance of the team, Odemba said:“I commend my players for what they have managed in Morocco, like in the second game, they played well and gave a different result which is very positive for us.
“I used the friendly matches to test new players, most of them we don’t see them play but when we bring them to the national team they add depth. We must propel young players and use them for future assignments.
“We want the junior players to come in and bond with the seniors, who we may face out when time comes. The important thing is to learn and keep the lessons, this year we have played in two windows and you can see the difference of the matches we played in Turkey and in Morocco, the more the players come together, the more we stay ready to face any opponent.”
