Al Ahly striker Wessam Abou Ali spoke ahead of his team’s upcoming match in the Challenger Cup, a match that serves as a semifinal in the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup. Al Ahly is set to face Pachuca from Mexico on Saturday, December 14, at 5 pm GMT, at Stadium 974 in Qatar.


In an interview reported by the club's media center, Abou Ali affirmed Al Ahly's readiness for the Challenger Cup match against Pachuca. He emphasized that both the players and the coaching staff are determined to exert maximum effort to secure a victory, delight the fans, and qualify to face European champions Real Madrid in the tournament's final.


Abou Ali expressed his immense confidence in the fans who will undoubtedly show strong support during the Challenger Cup match, just as they did in the previous match against Al Ain from the UAE. He recalled how the fans filled Cairo International Stadium and became the secret to Al Ahly’s triumph in the "Asia-Africa-Pacific" Cup.


The Al Ahly striker acknowledged the difficulty of the upcoming match, noting that the team would be facing a new style of football. He remarked that the level of competition in major tournaments always increases as teams progress through each stage.


Abou Ali also shared his joy at being part of a club with the stature and history of Al Ahly. He highlighted his dedication during training sessions to meet the expectations of everyone and bring happiness to the team's devoted fans.


He pointed out that having Real Madrid as a potential opponent in the final of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup adds to the team's ambition and desire to win the Challenger Cup. For Abou Ali, playing against the European giants would be a dream come true, marking his first match with Al Ahly against a European representative on the global stage.
