Ayman Abdelaziz, the assistant coach of Zamalek, expressed his happiness after his team’s victory over Modern Sport in the Round of 16 of the Egypt Cup and their qualification for the quarter-finals.
Speaking after the match, the assistant coach said: "Since I was a player, cup matches have always been difficult, and Zamalek players did what was required of them."
Abdelaziz added: "The playing style changed today based on the technical staff’s vision. We are working on giving opportunities to all players. Salah Mossad is fine, and he was substituted to allow everyone a chance to play."
The former assistant coach of Egypt continued: "It would have been easy to postpone the Modern Sport match in the cup to ensure fair competition before the upcoming league match against Al Ahly. It is only natural for Zamalek to get a rest before the derby, just like Al Ahly."
Abdelaziz also stated: "We had three scoring chances in the first half against Modern Sport, but in the end, this is football."
He further said: "The match against Al Ahly will be tough. We will work hard to secure victory and not drop any points in the upcoming matches. May God help the players, as there is no time for recovery. This is the fate of Zamalek players, and they will rise to the occasion."
Abdelaziz concluded: "The presence of fans makes a difference. Their support in the next match is crucial for the players and the coaching staff."
Zamalek advanced to the Egypt Cup quarter-finals after defeating Modern Sport 2-1 at Cairo International Stadium in the Round of 16. They will now face Smouha in the next round.
