Petro de Luanda captain William Soares is facing a critical moment in his professional career after facing a heart problem.

The 36-year-old Brazilian midfielder, who is in the final year of his contract with the Angolan champions, could soon discover whether he will be able to continue playing football at a professional level.

Petro de Luanda announced that the diagnosis of Soares pointed to a partial ischemic cardiopathy and the player will not be able to continue playing this season.

According to the Angolan outlet Bola Em Campo, Soares recently traveled to his native Brazil to undergo thorough medical examinations.

The results of these tests should appear in the coming days and will play a decisive role in determining his football future.

Currently in his fourth season with Petro de Luanda, Soares has achieved three Girabola titles (Angolan league) and three Angolan Cup triumphs. He also played a role in Petro’s run to the CAF Champions League semi-finals in the 2021-22 season.
