Zimbabwe midfielder Marshall Munetsi has declared that African football is tougher than that of Europe due to weather and ‘funny tricks.’

He said this in a post-match interview in Uyo, Nigeria, where the Warriors held the Super Eagles to a one-all draw in a World Cup qualifier.

"African football is much more difficult than European football. They always say it is much more difficult winning away in Africa than it is in Europe and that is why you always rule us out. There is always the weather and some funny tricks that are happening so you get experience from playing and seeing how other people are achieving," he told reporters.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder further responded to a question from a reporter on whether playing in the Premier League, which is considered the toughest, had helped him become a better captain.

Munetsi insisted it was too early to say he had gained much from playing in England.

"I think I have only been there for about a month or so now so I can't really say it has helped me, but spending my time in France and South Africa, playing against some of the big names in football and also sharing the pitch with good leaders is something you take as you go," he said.

The 28-year-old joined Wolves in the January transfer window from Stade Reims in France where he spent six seasons. He moved to France from Orlando Pirates in South Africa where he also had stints with Cape Town City FC and Baroka FC.
