Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vitor Pereira has highlighted the qualities that make his new signing from Zimbabwe Marshall Munetsi, a valuable addition to the Premiership side.
Pereira said this in a pre-match interview with his club’s media ahead of Sunday’s Premiership clash against leaders Liverpool.
Wolves have a spring in their step going into the game against the leaders after registering back-to-back wins over Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League and in the FA Cup.
The coach said new arrivals Nasser Djiga (Burkina Faso) and Munetsi had strengthened the Wolves’ squad.
“Good players. I think they add quality to the team. They have the skills, each one in their position, to help the team. We have a good team, and they are team players. They are committed, focused on the work, and this is what we need, this kind of player,” he said.
“[Munetsi] is a transition midfielder, box to box. He has the power to go in our box, to defend, and after a second to be in the other box. This is something that we need in this team to appear with more players in the box, and we are improving a lot, the way that we attack the box, the way that we defend. We need to have more moments to control the pace of the game.
“He’s [Djiga] working hard to be ready to help the team, like the other players. I'm very happy with the competition inside the team, and because of this we can increase our level.”
The Zimbabwean international penned a three-and-a-half-year contract and a 12-month option with Wolves. Munetsi cemented a big reputation in France where he spent six years and featured in 159 games for Reims.
The midfielder broke into the professional ranks when he signed for Orlando Pirates in South Africa in 2017 before moving to the French outfit three years later.
