Burkina Faso international Nasser Djiga has explained why his playing style suits the Premier League after completing a dream move to Wolverhampton Wanderers from Serbian side, Red Star Belgrade, in the January transfer window.
The centre-back, who is yet to debut for Wolves, told the club’s website he had no second thoughts about accepting the offer to sign for the Premier League side.
“I think my style fits well in the Premier League because I am a very aggressive player. I like to be strong in duels and comfortable on the ball. To succeed in the Premier League, you need these qualities. I have them, but I also want to keep working hard to improve even more,” he said.
He added that while Serbia’s football standards were below England's, UEFA Champions League exposure prepared him for the switch to England.
“The Premier League is the highest level, but playing in the Champions League with Red Star helped me a lot. Aside from that, playing a lot of matches with Red Star was very important for a young player, and I think that experience will help me,” he added.
The 22-year-old was not in the playing squad for Wolves as they faced Blackburn Rovers in an FA Cup fourth-round tie last weekend, as he had then trained once.
The defender has since said he was looking forward to Wolves’ next assignment against Liverpool on Sunday. Djiga was among Wolves' new arrivals in the January transfer window alongside Zimbabwean international Marshall Munetsi.
