Tanzanian Premier League champions Young Africans (Yanga SC) have made the decision to fire head coach Miguel Gamondi with immediate effect, naming Sead Ramovic as the Argentine's successor hours after announcing Gamondi's termination.

The decision to dismiss their coach comes after the Timu ya Mwananchi suffered back-to-back defeats in the top-flight. First they lost 1-0 against Azam FC before suffering a shock 3-1 defeat against Tabora United.

“We have reached an agreement to part ways with head coach Gamondi with immediate effect,” read part of the statement from Yanga seen by Pan-Africa Football. “We have also fired Gamondi’s two assistants.”

After the defeat against Tabora, the Argentine fueled his exit after he missed a training session. This came after he had taken the blame for the defeat against the promoted side.

“But there are responsibilities. You know how football is, when the team is winning everybody is happy and when they lose, I am held responsible. I am their coach. No blame because we played without all our defenders,” he said after the game as quoted by the Guardian.

He added: “It is football, the other team did their business and we did not do well. We must accept and be strong. I am the first one who is concerned because the other day when we lost to Azam we did not deserve it but it is football.

“But for today we can say nothing. They were realistic and we were not. This is what I can say, I don’t have a single explanation. Probably tired as well, we played six games in 20 days plus travelling and everything. I repeat, I get all the responsibilities for this loss.”

Born in Olavarria, Gamondi played football for local side Club Ferrocarril Sud. After he retired from playing, Gamondi managed several clubs in Argentina, including Ferro Carril Sud, Racing, El Fortin, San Martin de Tucuman and Racing Club de Avellaneda.

In 2000, Gamondi moved to Africa to join Oscar Fullone as an assistant coach to the Libyan side Al-Ahly. He also became an assistant coach to Fullone at the Burkina Faso national football team in December 2001, and would later become an assistant coach at ASEC Mimosas, Wydad Casablanca, Espérance Sportive de Tunis and Étoile du Sahel.

He was appointed assistant manager to Angel Cappa at South African side Mamelodi Sundowns in 2005. He was appointed manager of Platinum Stars in December 2007, and led Stars into the final 16 of the 2008 CAF Confederation Cup, its first foray into continental competition.

Later he managed CR Belouizdad and USM Alger in Algeria, Ittihad Kalba and Al Urooba in the United Arab Emirates, then Hassania Agadir, Wydad AC and Ittihad Tanger in Morocco.

Who is Sead Ramovic?

Born in Stuttgart, West Germany, Ramovic was recently the manager of Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit TS Galaxy.

He started his playing career with FC Feuerbach and went ahead to play for SpVgg Feuerbach, Stuttgarter Kickers, VfL Wolfsburg, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Kickers Offenbach, all of which are German clubs.

In July 2006, he signed with Tippeligaen club Tromso IL and in 2010 moved to Sivasspor. In 2011, he complete a swtich to FK Novi Pazar and played in the Serbian Superliga. On 17 November 2011, it was announced that he was to join Lillestrom SK for the 2012 season.
