Kampala Queens winger Zaina Nandede has embraced her evolving role, showing confidence in her ability to excel in multiple positions.
While she primarily plays as a right winger for Kampala Queens, Nandede has seamlessly transitioned into a right-back role for the national team under coach Sheryl Botes.
"I feel comfortable playing in different positions on the pitch, whether as a forward at my club or as a defender for the national team. It wasn’t difficult for me to adapt when the coach changed my position because it’s the same wing (right). I have steadily adjusted, and it’s only a matter of knowing when to do what in each role," Nandede told FUFA media.
Since her shift, she has featured as a right-back in four international friendlies under Botes—twice against the Democratic Republic of Congo and twice against Algeria—delivering standout performances in all appearances.
As Uganda gears up for their WAFCON 2026 Qualifiers first-round clash against Ethiopia, Nandede’s adaptability could prove crucial for the team’s success.
