Zamalek coach Christian Gross expressed his belief that the Egyptian giants need to avoid conceding unnecessary goals and find solutions when veteran playmaker Abdallah El Said is not available. Gross made these comments following Monday's 4-1 victory over El Gouna in the Nile Egyptian League.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Gross said: “Today’s match was tough but we succeeded in achieving victory, and I’m happy to see our strikers scoring in this game.”

He added: “The team performed well, especially in the second half, and we have already started preparing for the next league match against Pyramids.”

Gross continued: “We started the game strongly and scored an early goal but we didn’t capitalize on that momentum. However, our performance in the second half was much better.”

The coach also stated: “Abdallah El Said is an important player for us but we need to find solutions to compensate for his absence when necessary, and that will require a lot of work.”

Gross pointed out: “What we need to improve is avoiding conceding goals, especially goals like the one we conceded today. On a positive note, I’m happy that (defender Mahmoud Hamdi) Al-Wensh’s injury isn’t in his knee but only a head injury, and he will be ready for the next game.”

Zamalek defeated El Gouna 4-1 in a match held at Cairo International Stadium as part of Round 10 of the Nile Egyptian League. This victory elevated Zamalek to second place in the league table with 20 points, just one point behind leaders Pyramids.

Zamalek will face Pyramids in their upcoming league clash on Friday at 5:00 PM GMT.
