Zamalek's head coach Christian Gross expressed his happiness with the team's win over Haras El Hodoud in Thursday’s Egyptian Premier League match.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, the Swiss coach said: "There was tension at the end of the match and it could have been an easier game for us. I can say that the team played well for 85 minutes and scored goals."
Regarding the participation of Tunisian forward Seifeddine Jaziri, Gross stated: "The player's issue has been resolved and he has returned to training. I brought him on in the second half to prepare him as the team has a busy schedule and is gearing up for Sunday’s match against Nigeria’s Enyimba in the (CAF) Confederation Cup."
He continued: "It is natural for people to discuss substitutions when there is tension like what happened in the last minutes of the match."
On the injury of defender Mahmoud Hamdi "Al-Wensh", Gross commented: "I do not know the details of his injury and I hope it is minor. I preferred to exclude him to avoid any risk. As for Mohamed El-Sayed, he felt fatigue before the match and I decided to rest him."
Gross concluded: "There was some decline in the second half at certain times but there are many positives from the game and I am pleased with the victory."
Zamalek defeated Haras El Hodoud 3-2 in the eighth round of the Egyptian Premier League, raising their tally to 17 points and moving to second place in the standings.
