Zamalek head coach Christian Gross stated that his team made numerous attempts to secure a win in today's league match against Modern Sport. He emphasized that the opposing team defended well and worked on closing spaces against Zamalek's players.

Zamalek fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Modern Sport in the ninth round of the Egyptian Premier League (Nile League).

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Gross said: "The performance improved in the second half and Mahmoud Genesh, the opposing goalkeeper, saved a very dangerous chance for Zamalek."

He continued: "Hamza Mathlouthi's injury caused a defensive imbalance, and we lost control in the latter part of the pitch. In the future, we must take advantage of opportunities and create spaces to reach the opponent's goal."

The coach added: "I spoke with the players before the match, particularly Ahmed Fatouh and Omar Gaber, and informed them about the possibility of playing in defense if the team needed them in this position."

Gross went on to say: "I am the one who makes decisions about who plays and who doesn’t, and I trust all the players I select in the lineup."

He concluded: "Ahmed Mostafa Zizo played as a playmaker in today's match, which was my decision due to the absence of Abdallah El-Said, who will be ready for the next game. In any case, we must have players capable of filling El-Said's role."
