Moroccan left back Mahmoud Bentayg of Egyptian side Zamalek expressed his happiness at renewing his contract with The White Castle, wishing to live up to everyone's expectations in the coming period.
The player signed a new contract with Zamalek, who activated the option to purchase from French club for three seasons starting from next season, extending his stay until the end of the 2027-2028 season. The transfer fee is reported to be in the region of €1 million.
Bentayg said in statements to the club's media center: "The negotiations with Zamalek did not take long and were easy, whether with my agent or with Ahmed Hossam Mido, a member of the Football Planning Committee."
The player added: "The love of Zamalek fans for me and the mutual respect between us made the renewal process easier."
Bentayg spoke about his ambitions with the team, saying: "My goal, along with all Zamalek players, is to win all possible titles to bring joy to the fans who always support us in good times and bad. Zamalek is a big team that competes for every tournament it participates in."
He concluded by saying: "I thank the Zamalek fans for their support and help during the past period, and I hope to live up to their expectations of me."
Zamalek had initially signed Mahmoud Bentayg on a one-season loan from Saint-Étienne during last summer’s transfer window, with an option to buy.
Since joining Zamalek, Mahmoud Bentayg has played 22 matches, scoring two goals and providing three assists, and won the CAF Super Cup last September.
