Amr Adham, a member of the board of directors at Egypt's Zamalek SC, stated that the club is currently awaiting the stance of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) regarding the club’s complaint against Gabonese player Aaron Boupendza, who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 28.
In a statement to Zamalek’s media center, Amr Adham clarified that the club’s complaint demanded joint compensation from both the player and the Romanian club he previously played for. Zamalek had submitted the complaint to FIFA under case number FPSD-17571, and it was still under review by FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber at the time of the player's passing.
The board member explained that he has not made any comments to media outlets regarding Zamalek’s position, preferring instead to speak officially after consulting with the lawyer assigned to follow up on the case in order to determine Zamalek’s legal position.
Zamalek had partially agreed to sign Boupendza during the last summer transfer window before pulling out of the deal, after which the player joined Romanian club Rapid FC. His last club was Zhejiang FC in China.
Aaron Boupendza passed away today, Wednesday, in China after falling from a high place in a residential building.
