Zambia national team head coach Wedson Nyirenda has unveiled his 30-member provisional squad for the 2024 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament (to be played in 2025) with a mix of seasoned and upcoming stars.
The CHAN team is scheduled to enter residential camp over the weekend as part of their preparations for the tournament which will run from February 1-28 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
Zambia is among 18 teams that have qualified for the CHAN but will await the final draw to determine their opponents and tournament base. The Chipolopolo earned their ticket to the 8th edition of the tournament following the withdrawal of Mozambique, whom they were scheduled to play in a two-legged battle in the final qualifying round.
The matches were planned for December 21 in Mozambique and December 28 in Zambia. Prior to the withdrawal by Mozambique, the Zambian team had been conducting weekly preparatory camps for the local players.
