Leaders Zesco United wasted a chance to widen the gap at the MTN Super League summit after dropping points in a one-all draw with Nchanga Rangers at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
In a post-match interview, Zesco caretaker coach Emmanuel Siwale refused to panic over the dropped points.
"We wanted to get maximum points, but I knew it was going to be a tough game. We are focusing on ourselves, we will try and collect maximum points in our next game,” Siwale said.
The Electricity men had a dream start to the game as they scored barely after four minutes through Abraham Siankombo. However, the lead lasted 22 minutes as Rangers equalized through Mwiza Siwale.
The frustrating draw leaves the nine-time champions two points ahead of second-positioned Red Arrows who beat Lumwana Radiants 1-0 courtesy of Paul Katema’s strike.
Zesco should be seeking to bounce back next weekend against giants Mufulira Wanderers.
