Nkana FC head coach Mwenye Chipepo has blamed the team’s 1-0 defeat against NAPSA Stars in the Zambian Super League to missed chances but promised to rectify the mistakes heading to subsequent matches.
In the fixture on Saturday, Simon Nkhata scored in the 84th minute to hand Nkana their second consecutive defeat. The match began with promise for Nkana, who nearly took the lead just three minutes in. Stephen Chulu had a golden opportunity but shot wide from close range.
Speaking after the game, Chipepo expressed his disappointment: “It’s a sad moment, losing at home. A big crowd of fans came to support us, but we have disappointed them.
“We need to start picking points. If you look at the way we conceded the goal, it came at a time when we were attacking more. I don’t want to talk about the players we are missing; we are missing five key players.”
Asked about where Nkana missed it, Chipepo explained: “The game is all about scoring. We created some chances, but we couldn't convert. They had a chance, and they scored. Only one chance and they scored. We have created a lot of chances, but lack of composure we could have scored many.”
However, Chipepo remained optimistic despite the setback insisting he will work on the mistakes ahead of their next matches. “This is our job - to make sure that we rectify the mistakes made and learn from them.”
Kalampa will return to action with a leagu fixture against Nkwazi in Lusaka.
