Nkana FC head coach Mwenya Chipepo has vowed to compensate fans for their ‘painful’ 2-0 defeat against Zesco United by beating NAPSA Stars in a Zambian Super League fixture on Saturday.
The game at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium saw Zesco United claim maximum points and according to Chipeopo, it was a painful result for his side. Chipepo has now promised to do everything and bring smiles back on their fans, who have confidence in the team.
“We have prepared the team very well. The guys know that we lost three points in Ndola, which was very painful. I can see the way they performed in training; they are ready for the game,” explained Chipepo.
On how important a win will help the team, Chipepo said: “It's very important that we play at home. We want to ensure we pick up three points to compensate our fans, who are not happy but have confidence in us.”
On the injury situation in the team, Chipepo said: “We are missing five players, including Charles and Harrison, but we have many capable players. If you are registered with Nkana, it means you can play. We are not overly worried; we know we are going to play good football on Saturday.”
Chipepo's side go into the fixture sitting in fourth place on the table with 33 points, having recorded nine wins, six draws, and suffered five defeats. On the other hand, NAPSA will be looking to secure their fifth win of the season as they face Kalampa.
The game will represent the 24th competitive league meeting between the two sides since 2012, with Nkana claiming 12 wins compared to six victories for NAPSA.
In their last encounter, Kalampa emerged victorious with a 1-0 win in Lusaka, adding extra motivation for the home side.
